General: The Mesmerizing World Of Angels' Egg

"A bird like creature cracking his finger inside a transparent looking egg, cut to next scene a lone man in a darkly lit wasteland star stucked by a large space ship with a big glowing eye in the centre and the ship eventually crash and create a big explosion. Cut to the next scene inside a cave a pale looking girl taking taking care of a egg woke up and look outside the cave to view a beautiful morning sun".

This is the first scene of Angel's egg and yeah it set the tone of anime perfectly that its something different than conventional anime. The next half of the movie is spent on the exploration of little girl throughout this dark looking post apocalyptic world , where it seem she is the only survivor and she seem to collecting water everywhere she goes for reason unknown. She then enters the city where we see large tank , and at this moment I realized its not a post apocalyptic wasteland like I previously though, instead its a war ridden world where everything is destroyed as a result of war and only few survivor left.

They continue her journey through out the city holding egg inside her cloths in a way that she looks pregnant. Until she hear siren voices because of which she got panicked and try to run out of city. At the end she reach a absconder pace where she meet another human, a young looking men along with whom she return to city.

Now this next scene is really intriguing

" lots of fisherman try to hunt shadow fishes and even after many tries couldn't catch one because they are actually shadows. And after failing to catch them the fisherman turn to stones."

I think this scene represented the ever lasting hunt of wild anime (represtend by fishes here) and due to which these creatures goes extinct.

Some other interpretation of this scene is fish is the representation of faith and the struggle of man to catch it.

Well I won't revel next scene's cause they preety much ruin the whole movie other wise.

But I mention two scenes

1."When the men tells the tale of Noah's arc inside the cave"

2."The ending where we see a figure which looks like earth but instead of round its flat"

Well the film seem to be filled with religious symbolism particularly Christianity the cross looking thing the MC have, story of Noah's arc and other thing.

But as a non Christian I can't figure out most of them so I leave them out of my interpretation.

Another interpretation of this story which i like was that its about loss of innocence of little girl and yeah that actually make sense.

Well that's it sorry for another boring thread but I love this movie and want to share what I love about this. And what I love is not the character or story but actually the world. This is first time in anime that the world building is what makes the whole anime.

Yeah other than that the beautifully hand drawn animation and art is just bonus
